Trying to convince your loved one he or she needs treatment for their addiction can be difficult, which is why we offer free intervention services to all RCA patients. Our professional staff will help guide you and your loved one to explore strategies and opportunities for treatment.
At Recovery Centers of America, we believe in providing quality care that is both accessible and affordable. We want to remove any financial barriers so that you can focus on what’s important – recovery. We are in-network with most major insurance companies, to help reduce your out of pocket costs and keep your expenses at a minimum. At Recovery Centers of America, we believe nothing should stand in the way of your recovery, not even money.
We provide free, safe door-to-door transportation within 2 hours with drivers who are Narcan & CPR certified. All of our cars are equipped with blankets, food & water. Once our patients agree to enter into treatment and are admitted, we send a car out to be in your driveway within 2 hours. Our drivers provide our patients with safe, comfortable transportation from their front door to one of our neighborhood-based treatment centers.
Step 5: Our Clinical Team Performs a Comprehensive Medical and Biopsychosical Assessment
All of our patients receive a comprehensive medical examination upon admission into our Westminster facility. Our team of doctors, psychologists and nurses will conduct a psychological, physical, medical and biopsychosocial evaluation to help address the root causes of addiction. From here, we can develop an individualized treatment plan that addresses each individual’s specific needs. Our team of licensed medical staff will perform the following evaluations:
- Medical Evaluation, History and Physical Examination
Within 24 hours of admission to our facility, all patients receive a medical evaluation, history and examination. Our team of licensed medical staff will obtain a comprehensive medical history of each patient that enters our facility. This medical assessment includes: family medical history, pre-existing conditions, medications and allergies. All patients will take a urine drug test to test for drugs in the system. For patients who test positive for opiates, or report having used opiates, we will perform additional testing to check for Fentanyl in the system. Fentanyl is an extremely potent opiate that is often used in heroin and can be very dangerous, which is why we take so many precautions when testing for opiates. All patients that test positive for Fentanyl, will be heavily monitored, including a full set of vital monitoring for the first 24 hours following admission.
- Biopsychosocial Assessment The purpose of the biopsychosocial assessment is to ensure all patients receive accurate and comprehensive evaluation and to establish a clear understanding of our patient’s needs, strengths, ability and areas that the patient would like to focus on, from this, we identify the most appropriate level of care for the patient. The biopsychosocial assessment is the foundation for developing each patient’s individualized treatment plan. During the biopsychosocial assessment our medical team evaluates the following areas:
- Demographics, including age, sex, etc.
- Alcohol and Drug history: when drug use started, pattern of use and duration
- History of mental, emotional, behavioral, legal and social consequences of dependence
- Family and Relationships including one’s current living situation
- Recreational Assessment that encompasses patient’s physical abilities and limitations
- Employment or Vocational History
- History of physical, emotional and social problems associated with their substance use disorder
- History of other addictive disorders, such as nicotine or gambling
- Spiritual and Religious Beliefs
- Previous medical, psychological and substance use treatment and responses to those treatments
- History of physical, sexual and other types of abuse
- Suicidal and Homicidal attempts or ideation
- Past Trauma, Abuse, Neglect or Exploitation
Following the biopsychosocial assessment, our clinical team will administer a substance abuse diagnosis, behavioral health and psychiatric diagnosis (when applicable) using the Diagnostic Statistical Manual. We will also determine the appropriate level of care for each patient by using the American Society of Addiction Medicines Patient Placement Criteria. All patient treatment plans are reviewed by and signed off by our Clinical Supervisor.
Step 6: Our Medical Team Initiates your Medically-Supervised Detoxification
We provide 24/7 medically-supervised detoxification, to ensure that our patients detox both safely and comfortably. Our team of nurses and medical staff will be with patients, providing around the clock support and care during their detoxification. Our medical staff will take a patient’s vital signs a minimum of twice daily while detoxing, and any abnormal vital signs will be reported to the patient’s doctor immediately. Vital signs will include the following measurements: blood pressure, pulse, respiration, blood glucose, pulse oximetry and pain.
Our team of nurses and medical staff provide around the clock support and care to ensure patients detox safely, comfortably and with minimal levels of pain.
We provide a comprehensive approach to addiction treatment which addresses the root causes of addiction by addressing all contributing factors including medical, environmental, psychiatric, genetic and social. Our treatment philosophy includes medical support (comprehensive medical assessment, medically-supervised detoxification and 24/7 medical supervision), psychological/psychiatric support, family support (including mandatory family involvement, family therapy 1x per week at a minimum, and an educational family orientation program which equips families with the information and tools needed to support their loved one in long-term recovery, post-treatment), and social support (including life skills training and an intensive 12 Step curriculum which includes education & application).
Step 8: We Incorporate You & Your family In Our Intensive Therapeutic Family Programs
We treat the whole family. Our patients & their families are required to participate in family therapy. We employ Masters-level Family Therapists. In order to educate families and empower them to become helpful, supportive resources in our patients’ recovery process – all family members must complete a family orientation and educational seminar in order to begin visiting their loved one. We provide comprehensive family therapy services – separate or together, as clinically appropriate.
Step 9: We Prepare & Initiate Your Aftercare Treatment In One Of Our World Class Outpatient Facilities
Inpatient treatment is only the beginning of a road of recovery designed to last a lifetime. Recovery Centers of America at Westminster follows the 30/90 day model of care. Many experts agree that if a patient with support of their family commits to 90 days of treatment and participation in a 12-Step Fellowship, chances of achieving & maintaining long-term sobriety increase substantially.
We recommend outpatient services for all of our patients for a period of 60 days. We offer several outpatient programs with the flexibility to accommodate your lifestyle:
Partial Hospitalization (PHP): Our Partial Hospitalization program is designed to be the first “step-down” in our continuum of care. Patients participating in our PHP program meet daily for 6 hours a day and participate in individual & group therapy – as well as specialized programming designed to support patients in their long-term recovery.
Intensive Outpatient (IOP): Our Intensive Outpatient Program lasts 4-6 weeks and includes (3) 4-hour group sessions per week. This level of care is meant to reinforce the recovery tools & systems developed during their inpatient stay.
General Outpatient (GOP): Our General Outpatient program includes weekly individual & group therapy sessions for a period of time determined by each patient’s Primary Therapist.
Establishing deep and meaningful relationships in recovery is essential, which is why we organize events and activities for our alumni to participate in. These events allow you to meet other alumni and members of the recovery community, as well as give back to RCA patients currently in treatment. We will also help you obtain a sponsor and encourage you to participate in the many 12-Step meetings held on our campus and in your neighborhood every day.
